Despite the chirpy optimism of Kinds’ new single ‘Turn It Out’, something much darker lies within the lyrics. An anthem for dragging oneself out of gloom and into the light, theirs is a message of hope for unhappy people. They pull off sensitive subjects in an entirely upbeat way though, with rapid fire vocals from Karen Warner and resonating production from Mark Morrish. A tinkling piano entree gives way to fun synths and progressing chords for ultimate feel good moments. Throw in a shaker and we’re away. Turn it up and get happy. - SJ
